Snatch
Positions
Snatch grip behind the neck position
- bar placed across the shoulders like in the back squat position
- wide grip
- the shoulder blades squeezed together along their upper inside edges - retracted and slightly upward rotated
- no shrugging!
- torso leaned forward slightly so that the bar is over the middle of the feet
Overhead position
- bony side of the elbow oriented half way between down and back
- wrists and hands somewhat relaxed, grip no tighter than necessary to maintain proper posture
Exercises
Snatch grip behind the neck press
- starts from the snatch grip behind the neck position
- bar travels straight upwards and finish directly above the base of the neck
- no change in the shoulder blades position or torso angle
Overhead squat
- grip width so that the barbell is at the crease of the hips in the extended body position
- bar behind the neck
Heaving snatch balance
- feet in the receiving position, flat on the floor the whole exercise
- snatch grip behind the neck position
- small dip and drive
- punch against the bar to push yourself down into a squat
- recover to the standing position
